George Pernsteiner

State Higher Education Executive Officers

George Pernsteiner, M.P.A., became President of the State Higher Education Executive Officers (SHEEO) association on September 16, 2013. Prior to joining SHEEO, Mr. Pernsteiner served as Chancellor of the Oregon University System from July 2004 to March 2013. Previously in his career, he served as Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services at the University of California, Santa Barbara; Vice President for Finance and Administration at Portland State University; and Vice Provost and Chief Financial Officer at the University of Oregon. He has taught at Portland State University, the University of Puget Sound, and the University of Oregon. Before beginning work in higher education, Mr. Pernsteiner served as a senior executive for Seattle city government. He holds degrees from Seattle University and the University of Washington.
